Katarzyna Błażewska completed her master's degree (2001) and PhD (2006) at the Lodz University of Technology under the supervision of Professor Tadeusz Gajda. Her research focused on phosphorus-containing organic compounds and the use of NMR spectroscopy to determine the optical purity and absolute configuration of this class of compounds. She has undertaken several research internships, including with Prof. Ricard Riguera (University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain, 2004-2005, 5 months), Prof. Charles McKenna (University of Southern California, USA, 2006-2009), Prof. Andrew Griffiths (University of Strasbourg, 2010, 6 weeks), Prof. Eranthie Weerapana (Boston College, USA, 2013-2014, 7 months), and Prof. Edward Tate (Imperial College of London, 2015, 4 weeks).
These internships allowed Dr. Błażewska to expand her knowledge in medicinal and biological chemistry as well as in the application of modern proteomic techniques to study cellular processes. They also led to numerous collaborations, both domestically and internationally.
