Professor Beata Kolesińska has been associated with the Lodz University of Technology since 2002 when she earned her PhD in chemical sciences. In 2011, she achieved her habilitation, and in 2019, she was awarded the title of full professor. She has completed research internships at the University of Florence, ETH Zurich, an industrial internship at Chem-Quest Co (USA), Agropharm SA, and at the Institute of Biotechnology of Sera and Vaccines BIOMED.

Professor Kolesińska has authored over 100 publications and co-authored numerous patents and patent applications in the fields of organic chemistry, natural compounds, including peptides and proteins, as well as their conjugates with solid matrices. She collaborates with research institutions in medicine, biology, materials engineering, and biomaterials, as well as with industrial partners in the pharmaceutical, medical device, and food processing sectors. She serves on the International Advisory Boards of Helvetica Chimica Acta, Journal of Peptide Science, and Chemistry and Biodiversity, published by Wiley Online Library.

She is also a member of the European Peptide Society (Executive Committee member for 2024-2026), the Polish Chemical Society (Chair of the Organic Chemistry Section), and the Polish Society of Medicinal Chemistry.

Her main research interests include:

  • Design and synthesis of biologically active peptides and their applications in medicine.
  • Design, synthesis, and utilization of peptide conjugates with drugs/markers.
  • Peptide and hybrid materials based on peptides/proteins.
  • Investigation of peptide spatial structures and the relationship between conformation and their tendency to form stable conformers that facilitate the initiation of aggregation processes.
